Steve Kuker has 31 years of experience in operations, management, and business development primarily in senior-related healthcare. Steve began his journey in senior healthcare by delivering medical equipment and supplies part time while in college. It was during this time he learned that he loved serving the elderly and knew this would be his career path. Early in his career he was the General Manager of a medical equipment company and successfully launched a comprehensive joint venture home healthcare company from a start-up position offering Private Duty Nursing, Home IV Therapy, Respiratory/Home Medical Equipment, and medical supplies.
Later he was asked to perform consulting services and ultimately directed the turn-around of a failing healthcare company in Nashville. Soon after that, Steve joined Columbia HCA as their Group Director of Business Development, Homecare division. Accepting this challenge, he led business development efforts with 50 direct report staff covering 125 locations throughout 6 states. His strategic marketing plan drove a $200mm budget.
Returning home to Kansas City, Steve applied his experience to the long-term care industry and accepted a Regional Marketing Director's position with a long term care company covering three states working with several skilled nursing and assisted living facilities as well as Alzheimer's ALF start-ups. Then, he was asked to become the CEO of a software development company. There he raised over $600,000 in investment capital, led the company to two new product releases, secured three registered trademarks, and developed a comprehensive business plan, strategic marketing plan, budgets and P&L projections.
In his next position he was the Vice President of Business Development for a long-term care management company operating 70 long term care facilities in 10 states. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Operations for a Medicare Certified Home Health company. There he led the company from annual sales of $200,000 to $1.25mm in 4 years.
After helping his grandparents transition from their home to a senior care community, he started Senior Care Consulting to help others through the search and selection process when finding a nursing home, assisted living, Alzheimer's Dementia Care, or a Continuing Care Retirement Community for an elderly loved one.
In 2013, Steve created a unique radio program called Senior Care Live with a mission of providing information, education, and resources for seniors and their caregivers. The program's flagship radio station is Talk980AM-KMBZ, Kansas City, an Audacy station where Senior Care Live can be heard Saturdays at 11am central. The program has been so successful, it is now a nationally syndicated radio program! After the weekly broadcast, the program is turned into a podcast and is distributed nationally. For more information, to stream the program, or for podcasts, go to SeniorCareLive.com.
Steve is active in his church and enjoys spending time with his family, snow skiing, and music performance. He is one of the founding members of the Kansas City Partnership For Caregivers, is a Board member of the Healthy Aging Coalition of Kansas City, and frequently makes educational presentations to local businesses, professional groups, churches, and civic groups on a variety of senior related healthcare topics. Steve is also the President of Reveal Ministries Inc., a non-profit corporation whose mission is to spread the Word through music.
